    Nonfiction VS Fiction

Post by Hailey on Sat Sep 10, 2011 10:25 pm

So which do you prefer to read, non-fiction, both or just fiction? Why?

I like to read fiction, but some with non-fictional references. Things like I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings. It was a fiction book, but the girl grew up during segregation.

Really, the only non-fiction "book" I enjoyed was The Diary Of Anne Frank.

I have to admit I've never really read a non-fiction book, besides biographies. Oh, and that one book I read about all sorts of different types of mythologies, but that could also be considered fiction, depending how you look at it. Oh, and of course, my school text-books. Hate those, but loved the biographies and mythology books. I'll have to look into more non-fiction though. I'll check out your books, Hailey.

I prefer fiction because it's not... real XD I like non-fiction though. I've read a few how-to-write-a-book books, Tony Blair's biography, encyclopaedias and books about trains Smile

I prefer fiction, but sometimes I read nonfiction on things that interest me such as animation, mainly manuals.

I prefer fiction, too. I just... love thinking how all that came from someone's imagination.
But I read nonfiction when I have to, or when I come across a really good one, like Anne Frank

To be honest I'm like Tia; I've never really read non-fiction before. It has never appealed. There's just something about fiction and the creative processes which have gone into it which I just LOVE!

Maybe it's because you can make the rules yourself Emma?

Non fiction isn't creative. It could be cool though but Tony Blair's biography was definitely not creative. In fact, because the bank are making a huge fuss about how my mum's name has an extra letter in her birth certificate and I'm still waiting for the account to open, I use his biography to keep my money Smile Now that's creative ;D
